However, no beach day is complete without a tropical cocktail—those mixed drinks, with or without alcohol, that can be enjoyed year-round, though they’re the perfect match for summer and beach days in Mexico.

That’s why I set out to ask an expert which tropical cocktails are perfect for the beach in Mexico—and he even shared their ingredients.

1. Margarita

From Mexico to the world.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz tequila
  • 1 part triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 part lime or lemon juice
  • Crushed ice

Rim the margarita glass with salt.

2. Piña Colada

From Puerto Rico, one of the favorite cocktails.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz of white rum
  • 1 oz of coconut cream
  • 3 oz of pineapple juice
  • 1 cup of crushed ice
  • 1 pineapple slice

3. Welcome to the Jungle


The best combination of tropical fruits.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz of banana liqueur
  • 1 oz of coconut liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz of white rum
  • 2 oz of pineapple juice
  • 2 oz of cranberry juice

4. Sex on the Beach

The most peculiar name, born in Florida, USA.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz of almond liqueur
  • 1 oz of apricot liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz of vodka
  • 2 oz of orange juice
  • 2 oz of cranberry juice

5. Mai Tai

An American-origin cocktail, despite its name.

Ingredients:

  • 1 oz of almond liqueur
  • 1 oz of cassis liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz of dark rum
  • 2 oz of pineapple juice
  • 1/2 oz of lemon juice

6. Miami Vice

The exclusive flavor of Miami, Florida. Everything is frozen and served by separating the colors.

Ingredients:

  • Piña colada
  • Strawberry daiquiri

7. Ojo Rojo (Red Eye)

Famous from the movie Cocktail. In various parts of Mexico it usually has slightly different names.

Ingredients:

  • A few drops of Maggi sauce
  • A few drops of Worcestershire sauce
  • A few drops of Tabasco sauce
  • 1/2 oz of lemon juice
  • Half beer
  • Half Clamato

The glass is frosted with salt.

8. Havana Lights

The flavor and brightness of Cuba.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 oz of melon liqueur
  • 1 1/2 oz of coconut liqueur
  • Topn up with orange juice and pineapple juice

9. Vodka Tonic

Russian or Polish, vodka is here to stay.

Ingredients:

  • 2 oz of vodka
  • Top with tonic water
  • Lemon twist
